The 17 hour flight passed without incident and we both managed to stay awake the whole time, meaning we'd been sleep deprived for 27 hours! Collecting the rental car at Kahului Airport and getting to the condo in Kihei remains a total blur, I just remember seeing 73 deg. reading in the car at 10.30 pm. Yesss!
The dawn chorus woke us and we looked out from our lanai (balcony to us) to see a beautiful sunrise on the mountains and across the bay. 7am dressed for the heat we hit the supermarket and of course promptly shivered the whole way around there. Who can lift a gallon of milk (7 pints) to pour in to your cup of tea without slopping it everywhere?
We strolled the coastal path south towards Wailea to reccie where the wedding reception is going to take place, The Four Seasons is known as a world class hotel. This area has some of the best beaches and plenty of classy beach side resorts. Luckily for the public they have access to all of these same white sand beaches too. We trekked back north as it's dark at 6pm, BBQ'd our steak, sat on the lanai and tried to stay awake until 9pm. I didn't make 7.30!
Guess tomorrow brings snorkel gear, tanning lotion and a picnic lunch to explore the beach parks of South Maui, the sunny side of Maui.
