Strange thing, Fate

Tue 03 Nov

Having had such a long period awake on the journey here we'd hoped to acclimatise to local time relatively quickly. That has not happened! We both stirred during the night and woke up early in the morning. So Glenn went for a walk along the beach at first light and we then spent the morning sunning ourselves by the pool until lunch - Yvonne wants a nice tan to show off her sari!

Following lunch we went to find the venue for the wedding ceremony we are attending on Friday . After stopping where we thought it would be we we were directed a couple of blocks down the street and decided to walk along the beach. We found the correct location and clambered up an embankment and walked across the lawn to be met my two ladies who asked if they could help. Yvonne asked if this was the location her friend (Kusum) was getting married at and it transpired that the ladies were her sister and the wedding planner. Furthermore Kusum had just flown in and would be there in a couple of minutes. Needless to say she was very surprised to see Yvonne. What's the chances of that? With Kusum's well known lets say, flexibility around planning, we would never have met there even if had been planned.

We left them to their planning and headed to Maui's major town to buy some bits and pieces we'd either forgotten or overlooked. Needless to say the sale rails provided temptation and we bought some additional small items that can be squeezed in our rucksacs.

On our return we headed to the beach with boogie board under arm to try some body surfing but unfortunately the waves were embarrassingly small so we had to make do with a gentle dip. As the sun was getting low we sat for a while and watched the sunset before heading home for dinner.

Despite our best efforts to go to bed at a decent time tiredness overtook at 9 o'clock so it will probably be another early morning tomorrow!
