As we were now ‘on holiday’ we slept late. So late, in fact, that we almost missed breakfast.
The resort we picked turned out to be a real cracker and we spent nearly the whole day around and in the pool. It is still hot but the air is cool and fresh and the lovely soft pool water is the perfect temperature to wallow in for ages.
Around 1600 we decided that we really ought to make use of the free mountain bikes so went for a ride along the coast road. A serene experience, only having to dodge the goats, cattle and the odd bike. Where is everyone? There was a beautiful cool breeze coming off the sea making the cycling most pleasant. Having read that Kep has no real centre we followed the road first one way then the other until we came to beach where lots of people had gathered to watch the sunset. We joined them.
It was a lovely peaceful evening with a group of young men playing beach footie, young girls covering themselves from a day in the sun, a group of monks on their evening wander and the odd street vendor selling stuff - it wouldn't be Asia without them.
As the sun slipped below the horizon folks began to drift off so we returned to our hotel (if you can call it that - it only has 12 rooms) just in time for happy hour, two for one cocktails. What better way to end the day. A couple of Pina Coladas got us ready to order dinner then just before it arrived a White Russian for Yvonne and a flaming B52 for Glenn - both new to us but to be repeated for sure. The hotel manager whenever he spots us comes over to wish us a good day, a good bike ride, a good meal, a good drink. The power of TripAdvisor!
A nice place to spend the day. |

hi Guys, just catching up on your travels. soooooo glad to see that you are now "on holiday". WHAT!!!!
ReplyDeleteHello guys it looks like another gorgeous location y'all found in your ventures. I cannot believe y'all stayed laying around the resort all day that's not like you. atleast Yvonne got you out of the pool for a bike ride. The accommodation do not appear to be your norm that you've been staying, a little glitzy. We miss you guys greatly
