After having our breakfast on deck with the sun shining we left our mooring at Paradise Bay with the sails out and headed off north west passing Waewaetorea Island and Okahu Island in fairly calm waters and a decent blow. Once out in the the main channel the swell of 2 metres started to take its toll on Yvonne so we rounded the headland and came back down Urupukapuka Island on the south east side. We stopped for lunch in Otehei Bay, a spot of sunbathing and Glenn took a quick dip as the water hasn't warmed up sufficiently for Yvonne to stick a toe in yet.
The wind seemed to be picking up so we decided to get sailing again and we managed to sail straight off the anchor heading for a tour of the many islands in the bay. A decidedly sedate pace of 3 knots let us explore many different bays with the sun shining and a turquoise sea.
We moored for the night in a sheltered bay at Motuarohia Island which is a Wildlife Sanctuary. As the sun was still warm we enjoyed our dinner out on deck and reflected how enjoyable the day had been. Perhaps the Orcas and Dolphins will appear tomorrow, as it’s our last day aboard “Freewheeling”.
