We said our farewells to Niluk as he dropped us at Negombo airport at 2am. The first leg to Abu Dhabi, roughly a 4 hour journey, passed without incident and we managed to move to the emergency exit seats for extra legroom and the 2 hour layover flew by. Next we boarded, unfortunately for Glenn, an Eithad plane emblazoned in the Man City colours with a large sign at the cabin door saying welcome aboard from Man City. This plane was full but shortly into the flight most people were either asleep or watching movies making the plane a peaceful place. This 8 hour flight passed quite quickly as we watched movies back to back and enjoyed some quite tasty food.
Finding the Europcar hire desk in Johannesburg airport proved testing for two tired passengers but eventually we picked up the keys to our Ford car, which is going to get us around for the next 3 months. Finally just as it was getting dark around 6pm we found the the motorway and headed off to our airport hotel for our one night stay and a very early night.
